Dublin World Cup

Before the Dublin World Cup we spent most of the week in France before packing up the bikes again to hop on the short flight to Dublin on Friday. Saturday was time for pre ride, the course was at the Sport Ireland Campus which meant there was access to some great facilities right next to the course. We were met with a muddy course with plenty of straights, banks, and a long sandpit. We also made the mistake of riding on the right side of the road out of habit before remembering we had to be on the left.

I was first up again in the U23 race. Conditions for my race were similar to the day before with sticky mud. I had a pretty decent start coming into the first turn around the top 10 before very quickly not having the legs and being shuffled to the back. Good feelings never came and I struggled the whole race before coming in for 20th.

Then in between my race and Sid and Kaya’s the rain started to come down. Kaya and Sid both had good starts and ended up next to each other in the first part of the lap. This even led Sid to notice Kaya and say her trademark “sorry” in the middle of the first lap to Kaya. Then unfortunately Kaya got taken down in a crash which moved her towards the back of the pack. Sid rode strong in the 20s for the whole race finishing in 24th. Kaya caught and passed quite a few riders and then went back and forth in a group of 4 for the remainder of the race before getting tailed off right at the end to finish 33rd, 15th U23.

The team is all going their separate ways after this weekend again for a couple of weeks. Sid is staying in Europe to take part in the next couple of rounds of the World Cup while Kaya and I are back in the US before heading to Louisville, KY for the US National Championships.
